Column

Slide-projection on column / 2010

On the outer, concave edge of a column, a slide of the reproduction of the inner, convex edge is projected. If the spectator is standing exactly behind the slide-projector, a trompe l´oeil occurs. The column appears transparent and almost floating. It doesn´t appear anymore like a support-ting, architectural element, but like a facade. The borders between appearance and real volume, between projection and architectural space become fluent, entangling the viewer in a constant optical confusion. However, if the spectator moves from his position, the projection is distorted and confronts the spectator with the relativity of his perception.
